The new John Lewis Christmas ad is a cracker

This year’s story is about the power of a gift. And how that gift inspired, changed and influenced the course of a little boy’s life. That little boy just happens to be Elton John. The film begins in present day and works backwards chronologically through Elton’s life right until the moment on Christmas morning when he received the special gift that changed his life.

Wow, I loved that ad. Some people have 'special gifts', it's how you use it that makes a person. My Dad had an amazing talent as a young person, he was very musical, but seeing he lost his Dad at the age of 5, he never had a someone to help him develope that gift. Now many years later my son has that musical gift and my Dad, sittting in a nursing home, was able to see his grandson sit on stage in the Sydney Opera House and played at the Young Performers Awards, he was so proud of him. This young man today is helping young musicians to develop their talents. My heart is full of pride. So I say to parents to encourage your children in their 'special talents', they only have one life and to do the best they can.

What a lovely story. Thank you Hola.

Thanks RnR, I always say "Give credit where it's due".

Love your story overcome wth joy your Father must have been!

Thank you Sophie, he was so overcome he cried tears of joy and made the Nurses sit and watch also.

Great ad.

Rubbish ad

its all about Elton John. He never was much of a singer or sonhwriter

Each to their own :). I have Queen blasting right now.

Freddy Mercury was a great artist and singer

One of the best! If not the BEST!

I wouldn’t go that far . He was ok

Bob Dylan is the best

Led Zeppelin was superb

supertamp awesone

Mercury and Queen never came close . You need to be balanced Rob - thats your problem

Elton is giving only a portion of the loot from this ad. Tightwad, should give the whole lot.

omission, should be "to charity" after  ad

I am not a great fan of ELTON JOHN,   but he does give a LOT to charity,  that no one hears about,   ROBI,  agree about QUEEN,         LOTHARIO,   not a big fan of BOB DYLAN,    but i do like SUPERTRAMP,
