The real reason Karl is leaving Today

Long-standing host of Channel Nine’s Today show Karl Stefanovic announced he was stepping down from the program on Wednesday afternoon.

Channel Nine said that an announcement about the program’s new line-up and format will be made in the coming weeks.

Stefanovic has fronted the program for 14 years.

“For the last 14 years I’ve co-hosted the best show on television,” Stefanovic said in a statement.

“I can’t thank Nine enough for the opportunity. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be good enough to host this grand show for so long.

“Thanks to our viewers mostly, you are what matters most. It’s been a tough time. Thanks for hanging in there. I look forward to seeing you in another capacity at this great Network soon.”

Channel Nine’s director of news and current affairs Darren Wick thanked Stefanovic for his years of service.

“Nine and Karl Stefanovic have agreed it is time for him to step off the Today Show. Karl remains on contract with the network and will continue to host This Time Next Year, which records in February,” Mr Wick said.

“For over 14 years Karl has been at the centre of the Today Show bringing his unique personality and perspective to the day’s news and current affairs.”

Will you miss Karl when he finishes up on the Today show? Who do you think should replace him?

Most of the hosts of these type of programs, whether it be ABC, Seven, Nine or 10, either arrive with huge egos or quickly get them.  They also think they are comedians and have to constantly come up with some inane remark that they think is wit!  Theses programs should get back to to the basics of presenting current (not outdated) news, sports and weather.  Throw in a smattering of topical items for discussion by those who should know what they are talking about (which excludes most of the hosts) and you would have interesting programs that people would watch.  If you must put on shows that have to include numerous inane comments and pathetic attempts at comedy, schedule them for late evening viewing.

As for the false comeraderie between the hosts and the lesser lights on these programs, perhaps the producers should show the viewers glimpses of what goes on behind the scenes.  Now that would make for interesting television!

He came across as a stupid idiot with his inane giggling and going on camera hung over from the night before should never have been allowed. My prediction is that this new marriage will not last!

So what is the real reason? I won't miss him, I never watch the silly advertising show.

Who is Karl and why is he so talked about?

He was a rent collector called " Karl Bak Tomorra".

I can't stand the slimey bugger.

I liked him, smooth easy to listen to voice, not bad looking. So he did odd things as most humans do.

Better than 2 giggling hens.
