Things you can clean with Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola has long been a favourite beverage for many, but did you know it can also be a handy household cleaner? Here are some things that can be cleaned with Coke.
Your toilet
Coke can remove hard-to-clean stains from your toilet bowl. You can either pour it on directly or pop some in a spray bottle and spray a light coating, then letting it sit for a few hours. Before you flush, give it a scrub with a brush. It’s great for removing bathroom grime and water stains, but it won’t disinfect your dunny.
Grease stains from clothing
The phosphoric acid found in Coke can help remove grease stains from clothing. Simply pour a can into your washing machine, along with your usual dose of detergent and soak for 30 minutes then go ahead with your usual wash cycle.
Baked on grease on pots and pans
Pour a can of coke into the affected pot or pan and let it simmer on low heat for around 30 minutes to one hour, then scrub with a scouring pad to lift the stains. You can also do this with a baking pan, although you’ll need to heat the Coke in a pot, then pour into the pan and scrub.
Coins and jewellery
This is an exercise many of us undertook in primary school, but it’s one worth remembering. Pour some Coke into a cup and let your coins or jewellery sit in it overnight, then remove and polish. Be careful when trying this on jewellery because, as well as removing rust, the acid in Coke can lift paint. It may be best to stick to cleaning jewellery with tinfoil.
Nuts, bolts and tools
Got rusted nuts? Well spray some Coke onto it and hit it with some tinfoil or a scouring pad. Coke can clean tools too. Simply drop them into a bowl of Coke and leave overnight then scrub the next day. Be careful with chrome plating though, as Coke has the capacity to lift chrome, so don’t leave it on for too long.
There you have it. A simple but effective cleaner that may save you a few bob. It's worth noting, however, that if it can clean these household items, imagine what it does to your inside! Do you know of anything else that Coke can clean?
My window cleaner tells me coca cola is very good for cleaning windows. I've tried it on a mirror and it works.
This stuff is poison...many people don't realise the acidity level in coca cola matches the acidity levels of battery acid....and is associated with diseases like... cardiac arrest... stroke... asthma... chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to name a few.
It's very bad for children especially as it interferes with a balanced diet and should be banned in all school tuck shops...
