To buy or not to buy, that is the Question
I'm on the horns of a dilemma and need some advice or feedback from the good folk on this site.
Both retired and in our late sixties, my wife and I own a two-bedroom permanent on-site caravan in Northern Tasmania. Our home is comfortable but I think we would be better off selling our caravan and buying a small house. My wife thinks we are better off staying put and keeping our money in the bank rather than putting it all into a house. What do you think? Who is right, me or the wife and why?
I look forward to any comments which will help us make a decision. Many thanks.
My advice is not by experience but the way I see it. Consider the pros and cons, make a list, look at a few houses, can you imagine doing all the work to look after it, what about the cost of repairs and rates, many things to consider. What about social life, do you meet or know more people in the park? Is it convenient to everything you need? Asking many questions and looking at options is the only way to make the right decision. Try renting a house for awhile and see if you enjoy it too. Or would you prefer to spend the money travelling? Good luck whatever you decide.
