Tragic plane crash in Melbourne this morning takes five lives

Tragic news in Melbourne this morning, as it has been revealed that five people have died in what is being called the ‘worst civil aviation accident in 30 years’.

Around 9am this morning, a Beechcraft plane crashed into the Essendon DFO, shortly after take-off. Victoria Police has confirmed that the crash was due to engine failure and, sadly, all five people on board have died.

When the complication occurred, the pilot attempted to return to Essendon airfield but crashed into the DFO. It took 90 firefighters to attend to the shopping centre blaze, which Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews called a “complex and unpredictable fire”.

What a sad way to start a Tuesday. Our thoughts and with the people who lost their lives, their families and the police, and firefighters who attended the incident.
