Travel for 1? Is it gone or out there?

Recently a subscriber emailed in looking for affordable travel deals that are not twin share, but specialise in single supplements. Can anyone Help her as seen below?

Hello to you all,

There must be a lot more like me, widowed and would love to go on a small conducted bus tour but with single supplements.

Just about all the holidays I look at are twin share. It's no good saying 'you will be with someone your own age'. Us oldies have strange ways, listening to the radio and visiting the little room quite a lot during the night. I would hate the thought of disturbing others. Of course I realise that single supplements cost a little more but who has such tours?

If we can't sleep, some of us have the t.v. on, also, surely there would be others who would prefer to be on their own at night.

It's lovely to share your day and evening with others but it would be nice to be able to back to one's own room.

Thanks.

Yes I would much prefer to have a room to myself--always have--even when young--I have never been on organized holiday ever--I always go alone and so choose where I stay--and so have a room to myself--but yes I have noticed that these organized holidays are always "twin share"--_ i guess if you nedd to have the room to your self you have to pay for the other bed that won't be used.

I am going to England next year and will be doing a Trafalgar Tour of Europe. They have single supplement so I will be paying the extra for it.

I am a light sleeper and I know if I shared with a snorer I would get no sleep whatever and with all the early morning starts I would be exhausted.

hello moggy,as you know i'm going on a trafalgar tour,i fly out in 2 days time,i am having my own room because i don't want to share with strangers,my supplement for a single room cost me an extra $1,000 it's a lot of money i know but it's better than the alternative.

if i was sharing with some-one i didn't know i would wonder everytime i left the room would they be going through my things,a terrible thought but you can't trust anyone these days and i'd rather be safe than sorry.

Yes there is that thought as well--I feel that way if I stay in a motel these days--things have sure changed of late--so dreadful when you are unable to have trust in folks

Actually I didn't even think of that. It is sad but true. It would be a terrible way to spoil a holiday.

Have a great trip Wendy and I look forward to hearing all your adventures when you return.

Do what I and my sister do - stay in hostels. They are certainly not the dives they used to be - you can get a comfortable room to yourself in a secure establishment, meet interesting people, and save lots of money.Sis recently travelled round Malaysia for 4 weeks using hostel accommodation - she worked out when she came home that she spent less when she was away than she would have if she had been at home!! And most of them have internet access too so you can keep in touch with home.
