Vertigo

Would love to hear from anyone who is suffering from Vertigo, maybe there is someone out there in the land of "Yourlife choices" who could make me feel good in dealing with this.

My doctor has called it BPPV. Doing the Brandt-Daroff excercises, which I do not like to do.

This is  has been ongoing for the past few weeks.

Stay safe and keep smiling

I often have bouts of BPPV. It is a terrible time. I have been sleeping on two pillows and haven't had a bout of it for some time. This can also help with getting rid of it faster.

Hi Ben.

I think it affects people in different ways, if I use two pillows I get a sore neck besides having the room swim around.

I do!

Have had it for about 25 years, some years are better than others.

I remember about 20 years ago one of the GPs at the surgery was a retired Army Doctor his theary was to sit on the side of ones bet close your eyes and fall/flop in the direction   [on the bed] of the side you were having issues with.

The longest I have had it was for 7 days, drives one crazy.

Something to do with the degeneration of the bones in the ears as we age.

Very disturbing condition , I've had bouts of this for about 35 years , I do eye exercises, looking up , down , side to side , also step ups , even if just a brick , re -sets the balance portion in ears , also prescription from doctor for  nausea/ travel sickness tablets ,  agree sleeping on a few pillows to keep elevated, also leave a night light for wake ups during the night , helps to get your balance ,

best of luck ,

I've suffered from vertigo intermittently for many years, fortunately mostly mild and of short duration. When I feel an attack come on, I pop a Stemetil tablet. Gets rid of it pretty quickly.

I haven't taken those tablets in years;  when I find an attack could be coming I put a soft pillow [single] into my neck [under the skull]  I bend it in half and I feel the bones in the neck are opened up;  this helps me sometimes.  I had to do it this morning, I also take Mobic.

I've heard that some ear problems can be related to a sore throat.

My sincerest apologies to those who will be offended:

Paddy is doing some roofing work for Murphy. He nears the top of the ladder and starts shaking and going dizzy.

He calls down to Murphy and says: "I tink i will have to go home.I've gone all giddy and I feel sick!"

Murphy asks: "Have you got vertigo, Paddy?"

Paddy replies: "No, I just live around the corner!"

Stay safe and well.

I have suffered vertigo on and off for the last 30 years. The exercises work to relieve my symptoms along with stemetil tablet. I would suggest persevering with the exercises as they do make the vertigo go away.

Thank you for all taking time out to add to the comments and suggestions to help me with this problem. I guess there folks out there that have more severe problems than Vertigo.

Janellem59 I shall try to perservere with the excercises (with the help of my husband)

Shall also try using two pillows thank you Celia.

I have also heard this is caused by the crystals in the inner ear being dislodged, hence the dizziness and the imbalance. Exercises seem to put them back in place. If one has tinnitus ( using hearing aids for this problem ) and most of all getting old, whats new.
