Victa unveils robotic lawnmower

victa robo mower

How many of you dread having to mow your lawn?

Well, thanks to the the robotic mower from Victa, you may never have to do it again.

Designed for effortless maintenance, it’s an affordable backyard luxury for green thumbs, while for gardening novices it negates the need for a professional.

It features a battery powered motor, so quiet it can run at night,  an easy-to-use LCD touch screen featuring a host of programmable features, including mowing frequency and time of day, and adjustable cutting height for desired grass length.

Bump sensors steer it around unexpected obstacles, and the rain sensor means at the first sign of rain the mower will  return to the docking station and wait for better weather before completing the task.

The docking station doubles as a recharge station. The mower releases from the docking station when its time to mow and will find its way back once the job is done.

It will recognise when the battery is running low and take itself back to the docking station to charge. The lithium powered battery enables up to an hour battery life.

Once you outline the area with the included boundary wires, the mower will cut in a random pattern until the whole area has been covered. And it costs around $1200.

Would you trust a robot to mow your lawn?

Personally this is my favorite part of the week. Very relaxing! Although watching my late husband do this with his top off was magical.

I used to have no trouble in mowing edging etc but these days it is impossible for me to do any of these things and to get it done costs a fortune but I doubt that this mower would do my sized yard as I have a double bock

I'd trust anyone or anything to mow my lawn - if I had one :)

Why don't you buy one bush baby?

What a great idea if you can afford it . With increasing health issues I love my robot vacuum cleaner . Just wish someone would invent a robot drone that can flutter around and dust .

Tikitik,  what type of vac have you got, and do you have a big area to vacuum?

How long does it last b4 it has to recharge?

Sounds good but what about if you, your kids or pets are barefoot ?

Unlike the vaccum this has blades right?

Hi Suze – this reply to your query came from Victa:

"Thanks for your comment and feedback, the Victa Robot Mower has been designed with key safety features such as "auto-switch off" which means that the blade disc will immediately stop if it's lifted or flips over. The clever bump sensors feature allows the Victa Robot mower to reverse if it comes into contact with any objects in its way. There's a minimised gap between the deck and the lawn and the cutting width is narrower than the robot mower deck itself. The Victa Robot Mower has also been tested to ensure it complies with Australian Standards (AS).”

We have a Victa electric mower does the job well, especiallly if my son pushes it lol. Be good if the same battery fits into the robotic mower. Though I doubt it is designed for uneven ground, only the near perfect flat straight lawns, which is not our lawn.

PlanB . I bought a Deebot , around $300 , was the middle of the range cost wise . It covers a large area which includes a  small kitchen, large lounge , dining room &  entry hall ( open plan ) . I let it run around for about one hour before sending it back to the homebase to recharge . I prefer to do the bedrooms with the Dyson stick as the robot gets stuck around the bed uplift mechanism . We have two indoors cats and I was impressed with the amount of cat hair it picks up . If I find it has missed some areas I run it again in the afternoon but most times it covers the entire area . Very happy with it as we both have medical issues and not always able to handle a full sized vacuum cleaner .

Thank you Tikitik,  I have the Dyson ball type and find it is a bit too much for me these days --

PlanB. I was sceptical initially as I'd had some negative feedback about them . So I bought locally ( Godfreys ) in case I needed to return or assistance . You can get them cheaper on the net but they don't offer the same after sale service . It's certainly made our life easier

Tikitik,  I wonder how it would go -- as I get the place vacuumed once a week and the amount of dust that I get out of the Dyson is unbelievable -- ( have carpet in most areas)
