Goodbye LNP.

NSW next then the Feds.

Aboriginal leader Warren Mundine AO says the LNP's stocks are low because individuals are fighting in public.  What matters Warren says is unity and good economic management.

All of the majors have their internal divisions and factions.  The electorate expects internal problems to be resolved internally and they want a team to act that way and to get on with the job.

He is right.

A lot more than that I would think.  Add honesty, integrity, kindness, representing ALL Australians and doing WHAT IS RIGHT.

Most of the above list is missing from the DNA of LNP members.  Generally speaking they are the vilest of folk you woould see anywhere, both in and out of politics, and I suspect Australians are gradually understanding that what the Murdoch and Stokes empires serves up is grooming.

This is not a 'not being divided' or the like.  It is what is at the heart of this party.  Gone in 6 months!

Does that mean Adrianus will be out of a job!

LNP right wing tactics of fear and division resulted in a huge loss here in Victoria. LNP are clueless about what people expect from government to their peril.

WHo cares - let Victorians suffer another 4 years while labor bankrupt the state

The federal LNP HAS bankrupted the country.  Of course what do you do when you have sent the national debt up to $600 trillion?  Give the rich tax ucts of course.  What else.

The Liberal Party is only beneficial to the more affluent voters it seems.  Why anyone would vote for Matthew Guy is surprising given the extremely bad decisions and actions he has made in the past.  How could he "promise" to reduce the cost of gas and electricity use when it is all privately owned, thanks to the Kennett government.

by not dumping billions of taxpayer dollars on renewables

by allowing energy companies to set up fossil and nuclear power plants

Lothario coal use for power generation, just another expense for the Australian taxpayer, did you not see the interview with the expectant Liberal candidate who admitted that any new coal fired plant in the state would be subsidized by the government?  It is such a bad idea the Liberals/Nationals don't want to admit the details on how much it will cost us all to set these facilities up.

If the government wants to spend billions on energy production , let it be for new technology, not the same old filth that got us into this mess.

The private companies don't want to invest in coal powered power stations or they would be doing it now, they just want a taxpayer handout.

Yeah...lets dump double that into new coal fired power white elephants which will be mothballed within 20 years.  The next big LNP orchestrated waste and more debt again.

The LNP is a master at creating useless debt.

Doglover, Kennett had no choice when he came to power as the Cain Kirner era had left Victoria faced with such a large debt that they couldn't even service the interest on the debt.  Maybe it is time for the various State Governments to step back into building power stations that do not need ongoing false subsidies and deliver 24 hour high quality power (only Tasmania is able to manage that with their renewables in the form of hydro (which even there as had to be backed up with diesel)).

ex PS, the only power stations that can compete for reliability and quality with coal is nuclear and for political reasons, that would be very difficult to implement.  There is no renewable system (other that limited hydro) that has been able to deliver power as reliably as coal, gas and nuclear.  If you know of some emerging new superior technology, please share the news with us.

Mick, you cannot be taken seriously with your bluster when you are unable to accept that it is only in Queensland that there is the LNP as a registered political Party.  In this Victorian election, the Nationals did very well.  Ten candidates, 5 elected without the need for preferences and one more thanks to preferences.  Their primary votes showed that they have the confidence of the electors in those electorates.

I really cannot understand this Federal Government.  They were hammered in Victoria, but they still keep bringing out dinasours like Eric Abetz on Q&A tonight.  Scott Morrison (who in the past, I have had some time for) also decided to jump on the glory of Daniel Andrews by aligning his goverments achievements to Victoria, in question time today, also just does not get it.  I am not a Coalition Voter, but I really, really, find it so difficult to understand how the Coalition can keep going on along this path.  I can't believe we are paying these enormous salaries for this stupidity.  Don't they realise times are changing, people have had enough of Tony Abbot, Peter Dutton & the wrecking gang, the right wing of their party.  If there was ever a time for a major transplant, change or maybe show some stoic leadership, it is now, or else it is time to start office shredding big time, with only 6 months to go to the next Federal Election.   As a voter, I am really tired of being taken for granted, not listened to and taken as an idiot and that is why the Libs took a hammering in the Vic election.  I am however, encouraged to see some quality women landing in parliament, as independents,  maybe we may have a majority of commonsense on the crossbench in the near future, the government could well learn a lesson from this, because we sure have had a gutful of this lot.  We want some well thought out policies from all our MP's no matter which side of politics they come from.  We want good economic management, we want fairness, integrity and the good basics in health, education and infrastructure for our Country, not this petty argumemental point scoring.  If you can't deliver this resign and get off the bus and let some new blood into the Parliament who can deliver.

The liberals are being held to ransom by the rabid right,  These donosaurs are willing to destroy their own party to get their own way, and the majority are too gutless to stand up to them.

Time for the majority of good, hardworking intelligent Lib/Nat supporters to indentify the Rightwing Rabids and vote them out of the Party.  Your Party has been highjacked, time to take control and rest it back to the sane side of politics.

I am not saying who you should vote for, but anyone but the people in power now would be better.

They are way ahead of you ex PS, already done. Rest easy old trout.

Adrianus,

Who is way ahead (of ex PS) and what is already done? And whatever your answers to those questions are, how do you know? Are you “in the know” about something we ordinary non card carrying voters don’t yet know?

Is Murdoch losing his power to sway the masses? Gone are the days when one bought their favourite daily newspaper, read it from cover to cover and that was it. The public are better informed by multiple sources these days and are less inclined to be duped by political double speak. It appears too that people are less inclined to respond to fear and smear tactics. We want vision, ethical integrity and positive action. The Liberal Party needs to get its act together if it is to survive. We have a shallow, sloganeering, image flaunting PM running the show like an advertising campaign, infighting between the moderates and far right with seemingly no end in sight, and old tactics based on a belief that the public can be easily duped. Well hey, maybe they are learning that we are not easily duped anymore?

Eric Abetz was in a foul mood on Q&A last night. Lovely to see.....:))))

He had the look of a dinosaur caught in the glow of  meteor heading his way, he has just realised that his demise and that of his herd is close.

lol

Victorians are much more progressive than other states, this election proved it. I agree more people should vote in the bottom line to order their preferences, but not much is talked about or advertised so most people do not have an idea what it is about. Unity over fear, that is what was voted for.

musicveg, if you have a look at the map of Victoria and note the geographical distribution of the seats, it would appear that a lot of people voted for "what's in it for me" and not for a secure and safe future for all Victorians.  The ALP and the two Greens seats all appear to be those with high proportions of welfare dependant voters.  I would not call that "progressive".  More the reverse.

Couldabeen, your comments do not makes sense. "it would appear to be" "high proportion of welfare dependant voters" where is your proof?

And that you are only talking about a small part, picking that and commenting. Victoria is the most progressive state when it comes to what the people want of course, they are voting for the people not those who only  think "what's in it for me" which is how the greedy rich people think.

Another Liberal MP bails out in the federal sphere.

MP Julia Banks quits the Liberals to sit on the crossbench in a blistering verdict on the party’s direction.

Ms Banks, one of the Liberals’ star recruits at the last federal election, will join other independents in the House of Representatives after months of frustration over the party’s treatment of women and disunity over energy and climate change.

It's on again, election time next May. Liberals in shambles. Shorten looks scared to death he may win. Think I'll emigrate.
