Watch our for fake Australia Post emails

nasty email on screen

Be aware that there are fake Australia Post emails doing the rounds.

Apparently they say there is a parcel for you and you have to download something or other.  Don't do it...once you do your computer is infected.

The emails look exactly like Australia Post emails.

From Australia Post web site

Please be aware that Australia Post will never:

  • Ask you to click on an email link to print off a label to redeem your package
  • Email or call you to ask for personal or financial information including password, credit card details or account information
  • Email you to reconfirm your physical mailing address by clicking on a link
  • Call or email you out of the blue to request payment

These emails must being delivered like Auspost letters as I have yet to receive one.

I am still waiting also ;)

I have, as well as a fake gas bill - don't have gas !

have been getting a lot of fake ones,   but not from aust, post,   also getting a lot offering credit cards,   when i have NEVER applied for one,    all these started after it was on tv that you could go online and get a credit rating,   which i never did,    never had to,   i know where my credit stands,  they are all a nuisance,   trawling through your emails having to delete them,   even when you go and say to STOP THEM,   they still come,   just cant get rid of them,,

If an Australia Post customer with a Parcel Collect address, the only email or sms you shall get from them is one informing you that your parcel has arrived and to please collect it.

Also you will get a tracking number and you can find out when the parcel will be delivered.  I find that very good service.  As soon as it is delivered I usually get an email within 30 mins to say it has been delivered.

Join MyPost and it will catch any parcels being delivered and then tell you first off on way, then the day delivery coming and afterwards delivered etc.

I buy a lot on line these days - E-pharmacy monthly saves me over the year hundreds of dollars as local chemists charge a lot more !

My bugbear is these offers of $500 vouchers for all big stores like Coles, Woolworths IGA etc plus win cars all brands cant get rid of them and I dont have a clue where they got my address as never fill in win this or that as these are catch for this kind of spam sell you on etc.

Agree BigV.

Never fill in those voucher thingies...they are all fake!

I find the best thing to do is delete anything that is offering you something for nothing.

They are hoping that "greed" will entice people to play along...some do unfortunately.  There is no such thing as a 'free lunch'...better to be safe than sorry.

Yes all these competitions also win this or that usually same thing end up
