What are your thoughts on the 2019-20 Federal Budget?

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg released his first Federal Budget yesterday with measures that will help ease cost of living pressures, bump up super savings and make health more affordable for older Australians.

Are you sold on the policies and direction of this Coalition Government heading into the next Federal Election?

Or were you left disappointed and underwhelmed by the Treasurer's new budget measures?

This is sweetner budget to garner our vots. Some issues were no addressed such as  homelesness   and an increase in pesnionsEnergy help is a mere drop in the ocean for single pensioners

What is Mr Shorten's policy on the homeless? Indeed please refresh my memory of what the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd governments did in this area because I have genuinely forgotten.

At least credit should be given to the government for bringing down the deficit from $48billion to $4 billion.  I stand to be corrected on the figures as I am going from memory.

First of all Old man made a good point about Shorten

Secondly I believe it is still better to have small gaines than the Labour policy for a annual tax grab of 20 billion for the nesxt 10 years, ending negative gearing, capital gains tax discount etc.

This budget is a pure wast of time and money. No mention of going for the BIG end of town. They will not succeed in stopping the Big Rich Mob from avoiding tax unless all tax rules are changed and I can't see that changing anytime soon.

Not one mention about wages and pension increases also assistance for persons down on their luck.

To me I see it as "I'm OK mate and bugger the rest!" Statement from these so called leaders of our Nation.

We never got back the bit of the OAP that Abbott took of us -- to do with indexation -- after he said -- No cuts to pension/ABC/SBS

Another lying so-called Christian

Indexing the OAP to CPI indexation didn't get up did it?

I think that people have already decided who they are going to vote for. This budget won’t make any difference. Young people also expect governments to do more for climate change, and that didn’t happen. Families will get tax cuts no matter who is in Government. It’s also being acknowledged that wages are too low, and spending is slowing. I saw nothing in this budget to address that

Sundays, you have made up your mind to be negative about the budget. You didnt see 96% of workers get a pay rise ? Better than a pay rise a tax cut!!

I suppose you want to give business a reason to increase prices and screw the economy? JEEEZ..US Sundays, isnt that what we've been doing for decades? Labor need to stop living in the 60's and their followers need to start using their analytical skills.

There's an old saying.. When everybody thinks the same then nobody is thinking.

It would make no difference if a million dollars was put into every Labor voter's account;  they would still be negative!!

No, Labor and Greens voters would not be negative ardnher. They would be cynical because one off bribe handouts would not equate with their values. They want vision and ethical government, not lies, bribes, duping and lack of vision. The Coalition is trying to buy votes with this budget and many people prioritise social and community values over money.

.....and labor are not doing the same thing!! pull the other leg!!

and judging by comments on here "money" is what most people want more of!

The big end of town misses out once again. Shame on you Josh :(((((

Disgusting Budget focusing on Tax Cuts (especially increasing the Tax cut for those on $200K & above, to $11,640, from $7,000 already planned last year from 2024) and bribes in various directions, while completely ignoring the Retirees. Pathetic minor one-off energy rebate / bribe which will do nothing.

Libs had NO BUSINESS to offer Tax cuts, when they haven't reversed the disgusting Asset Test changes for Age Pensions from Jan 2017 - implemented on a lie (Budget Emergency), based on a false promise (No cuts to pensions from Abbott), without Grandfathering (say over 10 years), and which has destroyed all incentives to save for retirement. Also, no action to fix / replace the Broken Age Pension system - say by implementing Universal Age Pension such as in NZ.

Also, NO action to stop Large Companies and the Rich paying Nil or Negligible Taxes - say by implementing Minimum Taxes. All other tax loopholes such as overseas tax havens, trusts not paying sufficient taxes continue. What else can one expect from this Liberal party for the rich, I suppose?

Frydenberger also had the nerve to lie in Parliament that we are now "in the black", when all he was announcing was a forecast for the NEXT financial year. Why wasn't any censure motion passed?

Well put Old Man

"It must be OK as Shorten said on TV this morning that Labor would support all of the measures in the Budget. He even claimed that the Coalition had pinched all of Labor's policies. Those rubbishing the Budget are now rubbishing Labor."

yep, you gotta laugh!!  Shorten is a dickhead!

I can't even be bothered reading it in its entirety.

This close to an election the budget is just a pipe dream and means nothing.  I would imagine that if there is a change of Government at election time all bets will be off.

Even if there isn't a change of Government, there is no guarantee that it will go through as stated.  Already there has been at least one backflip, a good one I think, others might disagree, but no matter how you look at it, it still means something has already changed, with no doubt more to come.
