What do you think of the Age Pension changes?

The latest pension indexation amounts to a little over $5 a week. With many retirees taking a significant hit to their retirement income due to the market slump as a result of the coronavirus, should the government have done more to support those on fixed incomes?

What are you planning on doing with the extra money? Will it cover any of your extra costs? Do you think that it is even keeping pace with inflation?

Let us know your thoughts on the latest pension increase in the comments section below.

Some self-supporting retirees are struggling to keep up with the cost of living too. We are not living on much more than the pension and get no discounts on anything. Personally though, I care less for money than other things that make my life rich. Can only say that though because I'm not on the breadline....yet! No-one in this country should have to live on the breadline....they keep telling us we are a rich country?

Spare a thought for those in the music and entertainment industry. My son, who was relying on 3 huge gigs in the next 3 weeks has had them all cancelled. He can't go to Centrelink and ask for help and has just received a tax bill which has to be paid in the next few weeks. I can't just sit by and let him struggle., although I'm on the pension I'll be helping him out.

As I am living overseas I receive a lower rate. As my wife is not Australian I receive half the married rate. Can I please be advised of the post March 2020 rate for overseas pensions? The DHS site is still showing  the previous rate of $1,7178.20 or $1321.40 per payment (13 per year). And don't ask about the exchange rate!
