hmmm

lets do a survey - anybody here deal with prostitutes? do you guys pay less for females than you do for males? never been into prostitutes but i hear they are mostly female and very expensive....

i would like to see the pay difference there ......

what about models? do male models get as much as female models?

any models here?

actually i think in many jobs that have equal pay that it is totally unfair when males have to do heavy lifting that females dont, but only get the same pay.

i worked on a job once where females got equal pay to the men, but were only required to lift 10 lbs.

getting the same pay as a male, there was absolutely no limit which i was required to lift, and when i refused to lift 62 kilos on my own, (which i can easily do), i refused to do it out of principle. it held up the production line and the women complained that i was lazy and "the man who worked here before used to do this, that, this and this etc ....." i asked them to demonstrate and they reminded me they werent required to lift more than 10 lbs.

even in jobs where its all clerical like the public service, if heavy lifting needs to be done, it comes under "other duties as required", but women are exept from heavy lifting despite the fact they are NOT exempt from getting equal pay.

i think guys deserve a bit extra because of the extra physical effort that is sometimes required. if a maniac runs amok in the workplace, it is generally the male staff who have to subdue the culprit. sure you see women doing police work, but they are always accompanied by a male when there is physical violence, and in situations like that policewoman allegedly on her way to work at a bus stop, intervened in a guy screaming at his wife, and got her lights punched out by the guy. naturally the taxpayer had to foot the bill for her medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of work opportunity as she was too stressed to remain a cop. several hundred thousand dollars later she is able to retire courtesy of the taxpayer, and work when she feels like it for extra spending money.

yet she gets equal pay to male police officers despite the fact that she cannot do a lot of things a male officer can do. even at my age i could easily flatten most, if not all of the female cops i have met, so what chance would they have against a fit 25 year old ex jailbird?

i have seen females work on building sites and had to do some of their work becauwe they werent strong enough to do it, as well as my own work, but i still only got the same pay as they did. many jobs i did in factories were for men only, but the women they had there doing the light work, got the same pay.

another point is the fact that many changes have been made so women can do it as well as men. for example, bags of concrete that used to be 56lbs are now only 15kilos, so the women can lift them. obviously more staff had to be employed, making the businesses less competitive, so their prices went up, and they simply couldnt compete with overseas companies any more, so they either went broke or moved offshore where they could get cheaper labour without this equal pay thing, and maternity leave etc.

in overpaid jobs, like lawyers etc., women can be just as overpaid as men, especially when they have their own practice. in fact they can earn more, because they dont need to spend so much in bribes to judges, as they can offer services instead.

i personally dont think it is an issue, and there are much more important things to worry about.

good news for taxpayers though! many of us will be kicked off the pension next month, or have our pensions reduced, so that will save desperately needed money required by the government for legal aid, in order to keep criminals out of our already overcrowed jails, plus the legal aid needed for illegal immigrants to bypass the immigration system and get australian citizenship, plus the extra money needed to pay them dole payments or looney pensions, or pay the dole to the people whose jobs they take. this will create desperately needed work for struggling lawyers who can only afford 2 or 3 houses. other more needy things would include the pay rise they recently missed out on.

problem is, they have sold off all our infrastructure, and have nothing left to sell, so after they steal pensions, what will they sell or steal after that?

perhaps a tax on bullshit? that would bring in heaps of revenue i reckon. certainly plenty of it around to tax ................

ha ha MICK,    no,   just my name,    while its true  a lot of chefs are male,    believe me,   they have the cushiest job of all time,    WHEN you go to a restaurant or hotel with a big  name chef,   believe me,   the chances of that chef actually cooking any of that menu,  are pretty slim,   WHY, ?   because they have other staff,    there lackys,   doing it for them,   he just oversees,   say you order a mushroom and goats cheese pie for entree,    someone in that kitchen will be putting that pie together,   NOT the chef,     same as your main,    someone will be putting your roast pork and veg together,   not the chef,    it may be his name on the menu,   and over the door,   but most chefs,   and i have worked with some BIG names,     do NOT COOK,     he might make the gravy,   if your lucky,   thats about it,    also,  most chefs i have known are BULLIES,     and usually LOVE their grog,   one chef i wprked with in a hotel in GEELONG,   regularly had the staff in tears,    i got along with him pretty well,   cause i wouldnt take his bully tactics,   soon as he realised that,   we were ok,   but one woman there,   a lady in her 50s,   was regularly in tears,    most are pigs to work with,

Catsahoy -   It's good to hear stories of the "other side" of the kitchen door. These so called celebrity chefs are a joke, especially that English one Gordon Ramsay with the foul mouth. I do like to watch the women chefs especially Maggie Beer, who seems rather lovely. My sister was in South Australia and went to her restaurant in the country, she said the food was great, and they got to see her kitchen where they tape her show.

Ramsay's foul mouth is all part of how he attracts an audience.

The masses love it.

HOLA,   you would be surprised at some of the tales i could tell you,   while its true they do have to do their course to be able to use the word CHEF,     when it comes to actualy doing anything,   they are useless,    all they know is THEORY,    but doing anything is usually beyond them,     yes,  maggie beer is lovely,     i did meet her,    a few years ago,   AS for gordon ramsay,    he is just a loud mouthed ,  foul bully,    but actualt that IS how a lot of chefs behave, believe it or not,

most comments  clearly show how frightened men are at any prospect of equality, even though it would bring so many more benefits to everyone.

tragic.

Rubbish.

Aah, kika why bother to answer you???

Yes Kika , as yu can see some of the answers prove the topic header has nott been read. There are several instances where inequality is evident and rife  but yu can easily see some idiotic replies. No need to count which genda the childish replies originate from.

kika and Monika, all you are doing is saying some men are stupid or scared, but you give no examples. That's an unhelpful, non-specific, sweeping attack which says more about your biases than it does about the topic

Please give some specific examples of where a reply from a man has demonstrated being frightened, not having read the topic, or idiotic.

Right now, I have no idea who or what you are talking about.
