Which type of political persona are you?

The Political Persona Project – a national survey being conducted by Fairfax Media has revealed about who we think we are. So, which political person are you?

The project has, so far, surveyed around 2600 Australians, asking them which political tribe they belong to. These tribes are:

Activist Egalitarian
Activist Egalitarians have a strong social conscience and believe governments should intervene to make society more equitable.

Progressive Cosmopolitan
Internationalist in outlook, Progressive Cosmopolitans embrace multiculturalism and are politically engaged.

Ambitious Saver
Focused on the future, Ambitious Savers are going places. They watch their spending, value financial security and like life to be organised and predictable.

Prudent Traditionalist
Prudent Traditionalists share a lot of values with conservatives from days gone by.

Lavish Mod-con
Hey big spender. Lavish Mod-Cons (i.e. moderate conservatives) like to splash out on luxury and enjoy looking good.

Anti-establishment Firebrand
Politicians interfere, don't listen and make things worse - and as a result, society has lost its way. So believe the Anti-establishment Firebrands, who are highly resistant of a "nanny state".

Dissillusioned Pessimist
Disillusioned Pessimists despair about the direction of society and our country. They feel pessimistic about the future and let down by the community.

So, what do Australians really think of themselves?

  1. Prudent Traditionalist – 29.9 per cent

  2. Progressive Cosmopolitan – 18.3 per cent

  3. Activist Egalitarian – 18.2 per cent

  4. Dissillusioned Pessimist – 12.2 per cent

  5. Ambitious Saver – 9.9 per cent

  6. Anti-establishment Firebrand – 6 per cent

  7. Lavish Mod-con – 5.5 per cent

To be honest, I'm not surprised that prudent traditionalists hold the number one spot. And I think that the number two and three spots are similar and reflective of the numbers in the election. The number of Dissillusioned Pessimist did surprise me, although, given the current political climate, I'm not sure why.

Pass....

Its far to lovely a day to talk politics...

I'm a " Beach person " and that's where I am going now...lol

Half your luck cranky!

I would love a day to pass where i didn't have to think about politics.

Unfortunately the mongrels have so corrupted the country you must keep them under survellance every wakeing moment of the day

Fascinating - three-fifths Activist Egalitarian, two-fifths Progressive Cosmopolitan; at least I'm not a Disillusioned Pessimist - too depressing.

You do yourself no favours Bloss.

If you were such a true blue optimist, as you make out you, wouldn't have bothered replying to my post by trying to fake that you're some sort of physcological whiz-kid.

I reckon I am   DISILLUSIONED PESSIMIST

PlanB, is there anything I can do to help?

Thank you for your offer Frank but I see the way the world is headed -- or has already headed and I see disaster

I think if enough people have that view then it will happen.  Many Americans are "bugging out" honing survival skills and building underground bunkers. They say it's for a zombie attack during WW3. There may be many people who are optimistic about the future but prepare for a worst case scenario?

Guess I am a pragmatic individualist part of the 99 per cent that do not take part in The Age polls .

I guess I would have slotted easily into all of those categories at different times. Just like the Fairfax media to try and put us into a box with a label. :)

I think I am a mixture of many of those EXCEPT for...Anti-establishment Firebrand and Dissillusioned Pessimist...
