YLC Anomalies ~ Meeting Place

For me, quite often the TheMeetingPlace main index page diplays info quite different to the individual threads on same topic , even after reloading or clearing browser cache, e.g.

RnR...I didn't post anything on that thread...

Thanks Thea, very odd ... I've noticed similar before from a variety of members but decided to post this notification, as what appears on the main forum page is at odds with the reality of actual posts at times.

As such, it can cause confusion, and dare I say angst on occasion.

Help please YLC admin.

RnR

Certainly looks like a post from Thea was placed on the thread you mention as can be seen from my snap below.

... now it shows her changed avata

It can happen that the person deletes their comment  or there is a glitch or the comment is removed by the moderator.

Of course it can be placed there by another person who may have logged in as Thea

Why don't you drop a line to the forum Moderator ?? ..... Forum Moderator

....... or REPORT my comment

You went to a lot of  trouble for nothing Abby...only Thea  can log on as Thea..

Can someone else log on as "Abby"?

Yes if I give them my password ... no problem at all

...or if I get hacked.

Well...you would be very stupid to give anyone your passwords...won't you?

If you're afraid of being invaded  by spies...you should get better security...

For RnR...the most frequent reason for the "glitch"...is because someone may want to "bump" a thread..as I did yesterday...I bumped the wrong thread...

No big mystery...when the thread is bumped..and the poster removes the postbox.. their avatar remains until someone else comes along after and makes a post...then that avatar takes over...

Hope that makes a little sense...but am a little puzzled...why would it cause "angst?" Anyone who has been on the forum for a while (including Abby) would know that..

As a matter of fact..Abby...more than anybody else on this forum would know that and could have explained it to you...but I guess she likes a bit of drama...

Now if you go to the "Human Hair"  thread and post something...my avatar will disappear and yours will be visible...

Thank you.

You're very welcome!

"Anyone who has been on the forum for a while (including Abby) would know this. (Thea - above somewhere)

Bit of a sweeping generalisation with this one Thea, I've been on the forum for about 3 years or so and I didn't know this could happen, and was always of the opinion that if a name and perhaps an avatar appears with a comment  it was written by that particular person....and truly dislike a glitch that allows comments, names and avatars can  be messed around with in this way.....

Hope the moderator is aware of this...

Hi Shetso ... the actual comments on the threads are OK ... right names on comments.

It's only on the TheMeetingPlace Main Page that sometimes it appears that one person was the last poster, then, when you go to the thread their post isn't there.

As Thea explained, it probably happens when someone makes a post, then has a change of heart and removes it. The thread is OK but the main page still records the 'removed post' member as the last entry on that topic.

In actual fact the muddle of minds on here stemmed from Thea's first post where she said:

"RnR...I didn't post anything on that thread..."

It was Abby who explained how it can happen:
"It can happen that the person deletes their comment......."
Then Thea admitted that she had indeed put a comment up and deleted it in order to bump the thread:
"For RnR...the most frequent reason for the "glitch"...is because someone may want to "bump" a thread..as I did yesterday...I bumped the wrong thread...
If Thea had explained that from the outset instead of saying "I didn't post anything on that thread" (which was NOT true) it wouldn't have been an issue for anyone.

Here you are insulting Thea as well when  none of it has anything to do with you.

Very scary behaviour.

English is a very difficult language for some to understand....this is what "comment" means..

a verbal or written remark expressing an opinion or reaction."you asked for comments on the new proposals"synonyms:remarkobservationstatementutterancepronouncementjudgementreflectionopinionviewcriticism

I did NOT write a comment...I just "bumped" the thread without making a comment. One does not have to make a "COMMENT" in order to bump a thread. So when I told RnR "I didn't post anything"...that was the TRUTH....

Another trouble maker at work...good heavens...do some of these people have nothing better to do?

Do try and have some fun today!!!! I am off to have lunch with my writers' group...see you...
