Pre-existing conditions

You’re fighting fit and ready to travel, but you know you have a pre-existing medical condition. Should you tell your insurer? The simple answer is yes, as you may be covered anyway.

Travel insurance can be confusing, with many people unsure of what exactly they need to disclose to their insurance company. It’s always best to be as honest as possible, especially when it comes to pre-existing medical conditions, that way you’ll save yourself any nasty surprises should something go wrong while you’re travelling.

To keep things straightforward and simple, Australian Seniors Insurance Agency clearly state which pre-existing conditions are covered, based on age, and the criteria which applies.

So, if you’re aged 75 or below, and meet the criteria listed, the good news is you’re automatically covered when you take out a travel insurance policy. Those aged above 75 however, will not be covered even if they meet the necessary criteria.
