Q. Lee
I read your recent article on travelling during shoulder season (the period between the high and low travel seasons of a specific destination). This made me wonder about the low seasons for various destinations and the savings that might be on offer. I always try and book my flights early to save as much money as possible. As I have reduced mobility, I often need to travel business class, so the cost of the holiday is a top consideration. Can you please provide the low seasons for various destinations?

A. Off-season travel is a great way to save money. Travelling when the weather isn’t quite as good can not only save you money, but also often has the benefit of being able to avoid queueing to see some of the top attractions.

However, not all countries have an off season and depending where you want to travel, the weather conditions in the off season may force you to have a rethink, especially as you do have reduced mobility.

Travelling during off season also means that you might get better service from tour guides and hotel and restaurant staff. You are also likely to avoid running into too many families, who tend to travel in school holidays.

So, when is the off season for some popular destinations around the world?
