A sweet ride on luxury Suite Ships

Small ship river cruising has become one of the fastest growing styles of travel through Europe today.

Small ship river cruising has become one of the fastest growing styles of travel through Europe today. No longer being confined to a seat on a train or a coach, Avalon Waterways’ river cruise vessels make short work of Europe’s mighty rivers and offer the modern traveller a breadth of ways to occupy themselves between destinations (if the gorgeous scenery isn’t enough).

Your luxury Panorama or Royal Suite is a miracle of modern technology with three-metre wide floor to ceiling glass windows which slide open transforming your room into a spacious open air balcony. These windows are 50 per cent larger than the industry standard. Combined with Comfort Collection beds, Egyptian super-combed cotton linens, choice of window-facing bed configuration and full private bathroom with premium L’Occitane bath products, the Panorama and Royal suites are a luxury home away from home you simply must see to believe. Watch this video.

You may relax in the solace of your room between destinations or mingle with other passengers in some of the common areas of the ship. The outdoor Sky Deck has a sun shade system and premium lounge chairs; there is a lounge at the bow of the ship with full service bar that also transforms into a movie theatre; there is also an eight-person whirlpool at the aft of the vessel – all of these features are excellent settings for meeting and conversing like-minded travellers. There is also complimentary wifi on board so you can share your early experiences with friends and family back home.

Meals on board Avalon Waterways vessels will be a talking point of your holiday, for all the right reasons. High quality, fresh local produce and ingredients are crafted into thoughtful recipes and served on board in a variety of different styles catering for most dietary needs. If you are an early or late riser there is a breakfast option for you. There are al fresco dining options at the Panorama Bistro or something lighter from the Sky Bistro for lunch, as well as a daily lunch buffet. Dinner is always hosted in the main dining room with chef created specialties, matched to a complimentary local wine or beer, as well as light dinner alternatives for those who prefer.

But don’t take our word for it. See the excellence of an Avalon Waterways river cruise for yourself by viewing these virtual tours. You won’t want to travel with anyone else!

I travelled on Avalon`s Panorama from 24th July to to 7th August doing the trip from Budapest to Amsterdam. The boat was wonderful and the crew from the captain down were terrific, always smiling and saying hello and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Spotlessly clean, great food, loved the "cafe bar" at the end of our level, beautiful lounges both large and small, the computers, the daily "newspaper" for the different countries, the nightly entertainment and I certainly made use of the excellent "library". I can assure you room 321 is fantastic, in fact the best on board!!!! Loved all the land tours, especially having the gentle walking tour, although walking on the cobblestones did get a bit old hat as nice as they looked! Could do it again and even just stay onboard the whole time as its so relaxing.

One thing I didn`t mention the trip I was on had no single supplement charges. There were quite a lot of us travelling as singles too, just near my cabin there 4 others as singles and thats just the few I knew about. Check them out as some of their cruises do not have this charge which saved me nearly $3000. I went in what is considered reverse, Budapest to Amsterdam, but still saw the same things so didn`t miss out just wasn`t the way the tours are usually advertised.
