Anne Hathaway and Roger Federer are upstaged by Switzerland

With its abundance of ski slopes and unparalleled hiking trails, Switzerland is often called the playground of Europe. Add to this fresh air, pure water, lush alpine flora and magnificent views and you have arguably the perfect place for a holiday.

Tourism is an important sector of the Swiss economy, generating 2.8 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product. Unfortunately, pandemic-related restrictions halted a lot of travel to the country.

To promote the enchanting country, Tourism Switzerland has put together another charming and funny advert. This time featuring Roger Federer and Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Anne Hathaway.

The two-minute promotion takes Federer and Hathaway on a grand tour of Switzerland that showcases the majesty of Switzerland, taking the stars past lakes, scenic castles, and breathtaking mountain passes.

One day after its 12 April 2022 release on YouTube, it already had 3.5 million views.

The nine-day road trip the advert is promoting starts and ends in Zurich, showcasing some of the country’s most interesting and scenic attractions. The ambitious tour takes visitors to 46 top attractions, 22 lakes, five Alpine passes, and 13 UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The self-guided tour covers just over 1000 miles but can be flexibly adapted in length, depending on a visitor’s interests and time availability. Visitors can travel the circuit by motorcycle or car (with a network of convenient electric vehicle charging stations available for eco-conscious travellers, too).
