The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) is taking place in Kuala Lumpur from 1-31 October, with 30 of the country’s best restaurants taking part. Now in its 11th year, MIGF is a month-long festival that treats food enthusiasts to a unique fine dining experience from Malaysia’s top chefs. Diners will enjoy dishes blending traditional Malay, Indian and Chinese fare with the influences of Malaysia’s British colonial past.
If you’re looking for an authentic Malaysian dining experience, make sure you try out some of Kuala Lumpur’s famed hawker food. Head to Jalan Alor, located in the popular Golden Triangle area, where you’ll delight at the array of tasty and popular local fare to sample.
While Kuala Lumpur is known for its spectacular cuisine, there are also lots of great dining experiences to be had in other cities and towns around Malaysia. Only a three hour journey from KL, Melaka provides a foodie experience well worth the day trip. Melaka is well-known for the variety of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Nyonya cuisines on offer.
Penang is also renowned worldwide as a gourmet destination. Time Magazine has previously awarded Penang the title of ‘Best Street Food in Asia’, while CNN recently ranked local specialty Penang Assam Laksa as the world’s seventh most delicious food.
