There are many sites we could describe as ‘must-see’ in Bangkok, but the Grand Palace is top of our list. To do justice to the history and importance of this amazing complex – including the throne halls, royal residences and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – plan to set aside a full day.
As you enter the Palace you will be given the option of paying for an English-speaking guide – this service is worth every baht. As a visitor it is very difficult to understand the background and cultural significance, so a guide will really enhance your experience. Make sure you are modestly dressed, or you will be required to buy shirts, shawls or long pants form local stall holders before entering these sacred buildings.
