Queensland rugged rail journey

Here’s a wonderful tour that will take you from Brisbane up to Cairns and back. On the new Spirit of Queensland you can choose to travel in seats or the experience the brand new Railbeds. You’ll then travel across to the Gulf of Carpentaria, enjoying fresh seafood and watching the sunset over the water (think about it) at Karumba. Reminisce about the days of the gold rush while visiting historic Normanton and its huge railway station. You will then get the chance to travel on ‘The Tin Hare’ (The Gulflander, RM93).

This will give you the chance to enjoy Georgetown, Mt Surprise and beautiful Cobbold Gorge, with its cattle station. You will cruise up Cobbold Gorge, with electric motors on the boats (so the birds don’t get disturbed, clever, eh?). You’ll also travel on the historic Savannahlander train and even the Kuranda Scenic Rail train.

If you’re interested in this trip, contact Te-Arnna on 1800 300 999, who can also organise your rail travel or flights to Cairns. Save $25 if you book by 31 August 2015 – $3390 twin share, $800 single supplement.
