Indulge yourself in Margaret River

Font Size:

It’s well known that Margaret River is one of the world’s premier wine regions, but not only is it home to world class wineries, it’s also a place to indulge your tastebuds – and yourself.

There are boutique wineries that are as pretty as the wine is good; caves to explore, art galleries to appreciate, museums and historical sites, beautiful beaches and so much more. In fact, Margaret River has so much going for it that it’s well worth taking your time to truly experience the best the region has to offer.

As far as highlights? Well, there are too many to mention. But if you had to press us, here are three truly iconic attractions.

Vasse Virgin
What was once known as The Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory, is now called Vasse Virgin – makers of natural hand-made skin care products derived from olives grown in the Margaret River region.

Vasse Virgin hand crafts luxurious skin and body care products using the finest quality natural ingredients, including Australian extra virgin olive oil, and its factory has become quite the tourist attraction. Here, you can witness the whole process of soap making, taste a range of artisanal gourmet foods and condiments, and enjoy the ultimate olive oil experience.

Laurance of Margaret River
As if boasting some of the region’s finest wines wasn’t enough, Laurance Cellars is also one of the prettiest vineyards in the land. With its rustic building that oozes European sophistication, set amongst a 1000-bush rose garden, Oriental Plane Trees, Marigolds and Geraniums, Laurance Cellars’ gardens are perfectly complimented by an award-winning restaurant and its ‘best in the west’ wines.

The Margaret River Chocolate Company
Opened in 1999, the chocolate factory is one of Western Australia’s most popular tourist destinations. Visitors can watch chocolate being made, purchase from a range of amazing chocolate products and enjoy free tastings. Dine at The Chocolate Café, which features a menu of all-time savoury favourites such as burgers, chips, soups and salads, as well as sweet sensations like its sumptuous chocolate fondues, milk shakes and cakes – and the best chocolate brownies in Australia.

AAT Kings offers an affordable full day trip on which you can experience a taste of Margaret River, and also visits the region as part of the 16-day Western Wonderland guided holiday.
