One of the most important things an Australian (especially a Melbournian) wants to know when travelling is where they can get the best coffee?
Now I realise this is a BIG call, but I’m voting Bar Velodromo as the winner for best coffee in Barcelona. Recommended by Frank Camora in his book, Movida’s Guide to Barcelona, the minute I read of the political history of the café which first opened in 1931, I knew I had to visit. It is a long ten-block walk from where we were staying, but this has the advantage of shifting some of the extra kilos courtesy of all the tapas we have devoured. Bar Velodromo is effortlessly cool, but not so cool you don’t feel welcome. Whether you want a full meal, a drink with tapas or coffee and pastries, it’s open from dawn until 3am.
