Free Sydney shuttle bus

One of the best ways to see Sydney is on foot, but if your legs get a little weary, then hop on the CBD shuttle, Route 555 – it’s convenient and better yet – free.

The shuttle bus enables you to get around the city for shopping, a visit to your favourite foodie haunt or to connect with other transport. Operating every 10 minutes between 9.00am and 3pm on weekdays, until 9pm on Thursday nights and 09.30am to 6pm at weekends, you won’t have to wait long to catch a bus.

Running in a loop in both directions from Central Station to Circular Quay via George Street, you can hop on and off at any destination on the route. So, whether you’re trying to get to Town Hall, the Queen Victoria Building, the Opera House, Harbour Bridge or The Rocks, you won’t have too far to walk between stops.

If it is anything like the free tourist trams/bus service in Melb it will be full of office workers going from place to place around the city and the tourists will just have to walk.

My husband and I use these buses often when in Sydney. They are often a bit crowded but they are not usually full of office workers, in my experience

I know what you mean Noddy45. When I was last down in Melbourne I was advised to get the free tourist tram and I can get on or off anywhere in the City. Every tram that arrived was so crowded I eventually decided to walk.

I caught a Leather Jacket off the Pier at Circular Quay when I was a kid and we took it Manly and My Aunt fried it for Lunch !! :-) My mate caught a Leather Jacket at San Souci another day and it was a pity that a Big Ugly Bikey was wearing it at the time !! :-(

You caught a leather jacket at Circular Quay? Streuth. It must have been a fibreglass one. A bit tough for the eating parti. Your aunt must have a special cooking technique. How does she go with boots?

The pertinent questions are of course:

    1. Will Richard B. have cattle class?
    2. Are there skiing destinations or is it a trip to a barren rock?
    3. What's the food like?
    4. Will I have to share with Frank or will the company be frank and honest?

Hi - these posts are quite old - 2015 - and in any event the FREE shuttle bus number 555 has not run in Sydney for several years. There are NO free transport options here in Sydney (as of Aug 2019). The transport operates mostly via the Opal card pre-paid system. Happy travels.
