Sydney’s new nightly attraction

While Melbourne may be the cultural capital of ‘cool’, Sydney indisputably has some impressive attractions. Namely the harbour, its bridge and the opera house.

And until the 28 June, 2018, the latter will provide a feast for the eyes with the spectacular Badu Gili evening light show projected onto the sails.

Taking place at sunset and again at 7pm, the sails will feature a seven-minute animation featuring indigenous stories and artwork to celebrate Australia’s First Nations culture.

With music composed by Damian Robinson, Badu Gili showcases  five First Nations artists from across Australia and the Torres Strait Islands: Jenuarrie (Judith Warrie), Frances Belle Parker, Alick Tipoti and the late Lin Onus and Minnie Pwerle.

Curated by Rhoda Roberts AO, Badu Gili means ‘water light’ in the language of the traditional owners of Bennelong Point, the Gadigal people. The project was a combined effort of the Opera House, its Idealist donors and the Australian Council for the Arts.

Have you seen the Badu Gili light show yet? If not make sure you drop by on your next trip to Sydney at sunset or 7pm.
