Top 19 travel experiences

Global media giant CNN has published a collection of the top 19 most amazing travel experiences in the world. Calling for readers to ‘scrap all those other bucket lists’ the list features a range of crazy, fun and exclusive activities.

Australia features twice, thanks to Richard Branson’s Makepeace Island in the middle of Queensland’s Noosa River, which is available for exclusive rental. We also get a mention for Ayers Rock Helicopter Outback Tour. Across the ditch, New Zealand’s Shotover Jet Boat experience down Queentown’s narrow canyons also made the cut.

Here’s the full list:

Did a helicopter flight out of Alice Springs. It was one of the most beautiful things I have experienced. Terrified to begin with but rapidly slid into awe. Felt like the little boy in front of the lolly shop. Now totally hooked on helicopter tourism although nothing has surpassed that Alice Springs jaunt.

Did a helicopter flight in Hawaii over the lava fields and through the canyons which was pretty fantastic, also one in New Zealand to the top of a glacier. I'm now looking forward to a small plane flight over the Flinders Ranges next month. A unique experience is a snow mobile trip on to the Athabasca Glacier in Canada, the only glacier in the world that you can drive on.
