Free ferries to Kangaroo Island

SeaLink is offering free return passenger ferry transfers for two people who book their car and caravan or camper trailer on a Kangaroo Island SeaLink ferry.

Now may be the perfect time to hook up your camper and tick Australia’s third-largest island off your list, with this deal saving you up to $196 on a Kangaroo Island holiday.

“Kangaroo Island is a popular escape for families and retirees who make up the majority of people towing caravans and camper trailers to the island,” says SeaLink’s South Australian marketing manager Julie-Anne Briscoe.

“Kangaroo Island is so big that a few days is simply not enough to see and experience everything the island offers. You really need a week or longer to explore and discover the magic of the island. It’s so cost-effective and easy to do this in a caravan or camper trailer, so it’s no surprise that Kangaroo Island is a leading destination for caravanning and camper trailer holidays.

“Winter is also such a great time to visit. Kangaroo Island is lovely and green, there is so much wildlife around – seal pups, joey kangaroos and wallabies, and the island has a Mediterranean climate, so winter is mild and with minimal frost.”

There’s more than the spectacular coastal scenery, stunning landscapes, pristine beaches and  fascinating wildlife for which the island is famous.

Explore a variety of cliff-top wineries and take in the picturesque views, sample gin at Kangaroo Island Spirits, experience amazing wildlife encounters with sea lions at Seal Bay and see kangaroos, koalas and other native animals at Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park.

There are four privately owned caravan parks, ranging from foreshore parks in Kingscote and Penneshaw to natural bushland settings in the centre of the island at Parndana and a caravan park at the western end of the island next to the Flinders Chase National Park and popular attractions Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks.

All sites are powered, and facilities at some parks include everything from picnic and BBQ areas to camp kitchens, walking tracks and self-contained villas. Council-run caravan parks also operate on Kangaroo Island, with some situated in the national parks.

SeaLink’s caravan and camper trailer deal is on sale until 14 September 2019 and valid for travel until 15 September 2019. For further information on this deal, ferry timetables and caravan or camper trailer holidays, visit and quote CARAVAN19 when booking.
