‘Unique first-time event’ to bring Bendigo to life in winter

There’s nothing more satisfying than discovering more about your own backyard.

A new event happening from 26 June 2021 highlights not just Bendigo’s goldfields and history, but also its fauna, flora, wildlife and culture.

Bendigo will be brought to light with the unique first-time event Awaken: Bendigo Brought to Light – combining holograms and laser lights in a spectacular nightly show.

Located in Bendigo’s beautiful Rosalind Park ₋ right in the heart of the regional township ₋ the free Awaken: Bendigo Brought to Light show will combine sensory, hologram and immersive laser light experiences depicting the city’s stories and rich history, including Bendigo’s gold mining past and Chinese migration.

Visitors will be greeted by faces projected on tree trunks revealing fascinating horticultural stories, and be dazzled by breathtaking holograms of Bendigo’s local flora, fauna, and wildlife.

Laser shows projected against Bendigo Creek and Cascades will reflect Bendigo’s gold mining history whilst smoke and sound will be used to enhance visitors’ sensory experiences as they walk through the park at night.

Less than a two-hour drive from Melbourne, Awaken: Bendigo Brought to Light is the perfect excuse to head to Bendigo for a winter escape. With the show taking place at night, visitors can stay overnight in Bendigo to take advantage of the region’s many accommodation options and discover more of what the region has to offer.

Added reasons to visit include the Bendigo Art Gallery’s Mary Quant – Fashion Revolutionary exhibition, running until 11 July 2021, and attractions such as the Golden Dragon Museum, the Central Deborah Goldmine, and the Bendigo Discovery Science & Technology Centre.

Awaken: Bendigo Brought to Light starts on Saturday 26 June 2021 and will run to Sunday 17 July 2021. The free event runs from 6pm to 10pm, Sunday to Thursday, and from 7pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
