World’s best airport hotels

Brisbane Airport has been named Australia’s best hub, according to the 2019 Skytrax World Airport Awards.

Queensland’s capital hub jumped four places from 2018 to finish top of the Australasian list and 18th globally.

Sydney Airport, which topped the Australia/Pacific list last year, was placed second in the Aussie hubs but dropped one spot on the global list to 21st position.

Melbourne Airport finished third, two places behind Sydney on the global list at 23rd position. Gold Coast finished fourth (45th), Perth was fifth (52nd) and Adelaide sixth (76th) – all improving in the international rankings.

Singapore Changi was declared the best overall airport for the seventh straight year, followed by Tokyo Haneda, Seoul Incheon and Doha Hamad. Crowne Plaza Changi Airport was also named World’s Best Airport Hotel for the fifth consecutive year.

“At Changi, we are fortunate to have a large community of immensely dedicated and passionate airport workers who strive to deliver the best experiences to our passengers every single day,” said Singapore Changi Airport Group chief Mr Lee Seow Hiang.

Brisbane also finished on top of the airport accommodation category, with Pullman Brisbane Airport claiming the award for Best Airport Hotel in Australia/Pacific (5th internationally); and Novotel Brisbane Airport also finishing in the top five Australasian hotels.
