Your personally curated city guide

City guides are one of the more handy references to have when travelling. Particularly when they come in app form and don’t involve lugging around a guide book.

Taking this concept a step further, though, is global travel tech company ButlerTech. Its latest app CityButler, is designed to offer travellers a comprehensive city guide. CityButler goes a step further, featuring handpicked recommendations for hotels, restaurants, spas, tour operators, shops, attractions, events, etc. Users can easily navigate their chosen city and book activities or services, with experiences organised into categories. Upon selecting a category, the user is shown ratings, reviews and the services of each business, allowing the traveller to make an informed decision. With everything from local sim cards, transport, excursions, healthcare centres and hairdressers, the app also allows users to seamlessly book or order anything they may need during their city stay.

With geo-location technology, CityButler enables users to locate nearby businesses. Users can also tailor the app to their specific tastes and interests by selecting a calendar of relevant events or by browsing the top picks in the chosen city, such as the best restaurants or nightspots. These can then be bookmarked to create a ‘Favourites’ or, perhaps more accurately, ‘to-do list’.

According to Mike Mazza, CEO and Foudner of ButlerTech Group, “Every business, attraction, tour operator, retailer or service provider that features on the CityButler app has been handpicked by our local experts to ensure each traveller can plan and enjoy the best possible city experience.” He goes on to add, “Should any user need help or additional advice during their city stay, there is also a support chat section to message one of our assistants. Travellers can now rely on one single app for everything they might need during their city visit.”

With more features promised, including online bill payments, insurance purchases and daily deals, CityButler is currently available for Bangkok, London, Manchester, Melbourne, Pattaya, Phuket, Singapore and Sydney. Further destinations in Asia, Europe and the USA are set to follow in the coming months, in line with ButlerTech’s aim to populate the app with 100 worldwide destinations within its first year. The app is available now, with the Android and tablet versions due by the end of this year. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted a butler …
