Australia’s most satisfying airline

Qantas has won a narrow victory over key rival Virgin as Australia’s most satisfying domestic airline for July and looks like it will win the award for a fifth straight year.

The flying kangaroo took out top honours, but only just, with a customer satisfaction rating (CSR) of 84 per cent, just ahead of Virgin Australia on 83 per cent.

Regional Express (REX) was the best regional airline and third ranked domestic airline, with a 77 per cent CSR, beating Qantaslink on 76 per cent, which came in fourth. Jetstar and Tigerair came in fifth and sixth respectively, with 59 per cent and 57 per cent CSRs.

Qantas was the preferred airline for domestic business travellers with a 79.4 per cent CSR over Virgin Australia with a 78.8 per cent CSR.

Qantas won the Annual Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards for both the Domestic Airline and Domestic Business Airline* of the year for the fourth straight year in 2017. Judging by these results, it may do so for a fifth consecutive year, but it shouldn’t rest easy with Virgin breathing down its neck.

“Qantas is standing tall in 2018 as Australia’s leading domestic airline for customer satisfaction winning the July awards for both domestic airline customer satisfaction and domestic business airline customer satisfaction” said Roy Morgan Chief Michele Levine.

“The victories for Qantas in the monthly customer satisfaction award come as Australia is set to welcome a new Prime Minister who knows a thing or two about tourism. New Liberal Leader and Prime Minister Scott Morrison was responsible for the ‘Where the bloody hell are you’ tourism campaign when Managing Director of Tourism Australia back in 2006.

“Australians are evenly split in their support between Morrison and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten according to a recent Morgan Poll, but Australia’s airlines will be hoping Morrison is able to bring some of his expertise managing Tourism Australia to increase tourism to and from Australia as Prime Minister.”
