Farewell parking tickets forever

Let’s face it, there’s really nothing more annoying than getting a parking ticket. Especially if you’ve paid for parking already and accidentally overstayed your welcome. And often it means you would have spent less if you’d caught a cab to and from where you were going.

Well, fear no more. Now you can pay for parking from your phone and never receive another ticket again. Once you’re registered, there are four simple options to choose from, including SMS, phone call, the PayStay mobile app and the website.

Parking locations covered by PayStay are clearly identified by signage. So, after you’ve parked, use your phone to record the start and end times. There’s no need for cash or to display tickets – you’ll simply get a text message to remind you when your parking is about to expire. It couldn’t be easier.

At least your Grandson will use it and won't get fines. It's called progress, and it might leave you behind Helga. I'm surprised you use the Internet and not the post.

This has been in place in Europe for the past 10 years, it is simple and saves you time going back to the parking meter. Mobile phone reminds you when its due to expire, so you can renew, but you need to make sure you have enough money for parking if your phone is prepaid.

Does this mean it is recorded and you get a fine if you overstay the time limit on the parking space? At the moment I can be cheeky and put more money in if the tyres aren't marked.

I'm sick of being controlled by electronics.

They aren't supposed to mark the side-walls. You can move a few metres and scuff the chalk off the tread. No wonder a few parking inspectors have been assaulted. At least with their new fancy cameras they will have the car description correct. A friend of mine got a parking ticket and she hadn't even had her long enough to drive to the city. Listed Rego numbers was hers. but the car was different make, model and colour wasn't.

And another thing, I have seen parking inspectors standing waiting for a parking meter to expire, started to process the ticket 5 minutes before and the driver return and start his motor to move off just before expiry and the inspector slap the ticket on the wipers as the car was being driven away. It was reported to the Police as it was put on the wrong side, and reported to the council. One very red faced inspector when he was called back to his office.
