High flying high jinx

One of the more interesting aviation videos you’ll watch this week, these two men have taken flying to the next level.

Filmed over many of Dubai’s famous landmarks, Jetman Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet really raised the stakes with their latest stunt, which saw them fly alongside an Emirates A380 passenger plane.

With nothing but jetpacks attached to them, the pair can be seen soaring through the sky at 4000ft. In case that wasn’t impressive enough already, let’s add the world’s largest plane to the equation and the fact they were travelling at speeds of up to almost 200 km per hour.

Deployed from a helicopter that hovered above the aircraft at 5500ft, the Jetman Dubai team wore custom-built flight suits weighing almost 55kgs and with a wingspan of two metres. A stunt that would have taken meticulous planning to pull off, the resulting video is nothing short of mind blowing.

Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Emirates, Adel Al Redha, noted that the “display between man and machine celebrates the magic and beauty of flight, a feat which just over a hundred years ago would have seemed an impossible dream.”

And on that note, why not watch the incredible video below and be reminded that nothing is impossible – not even touching the sky?

Want to know how Emirates and Jetman Dubai pulled off this stunt? There’s a video for that too…
