Non-stop London flights on sale

If airport transits are your least favourite thing about flying, Qantas’ direct Perth to London route, which is now on sale, could make long-haul travel more appealing.

Since the flights were announced in December 2016, potential passengers have been waiting to discover the price of the fares. The good news is that they’re comparable to what’s on offer from the airline for its non-direct route.

Serviced by Qantas’ new Boeing 787-Dreamliner, which is specifically designed for long-haul flights, the flight will take approximately 17 hours and fares are as follows:

Melbourne-London (via Perth) and Perth to London will see Economy fares starting from $2270, however, it is expected that these will fall below $2000 during sale periods. Premium Economy fares from Melbourne will start at $4450 and $4250 from Perth. While Business Class fares will start from $9890 from Melbourne and $9735 from Perth.

Unfortunately, for passengers flying from Melbourne who don’t wish to make the journey via Perth there will be little choice. Qantas will swap its daily A380 service via Dubai, which currently departs at 1520, with the A787 service via Perth. Passengers will still be able to travel on Emirates flights via Dubai.

The first flight between Australia (Sydney) and the UK (London), known as the Kangaroo route, was in 1947 and had stopovers in Darwin, Singapore, Calcutta, Karchi, Cairo, Castel Bentito and Rome before landing in London four days later.
