Emirates takes full service to dizzying heights

The Emirates’ luxury onboard lounge reopened this week, with comprehensive health and safety protocols returning one of commercial aviation’s most opulent services to the skies.

The flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates’ Onboard Lounge and Shower Spa experience is back in operation on Emirates’ A380 aircraft.

It’s back and better, featuring additional health and safety measures and a new ‘nutrient-rich’ welcome drink for passengers.

The lounge serves only first and business class passengers. Social distancing protocols will be enforced.

The famous onboard bar will now offer takeaway beverages and ‘lounge bites’ will also be available for flyers to enjoy from the comfort of their own seats. Pre-packed snacks will also be available in business and first class social areas.

Passengers will also once again be able to take a shower at 40,000 feet, and all spa products will be provided in individual amenity bags.

Inflight dining will also recommence across all cabins “while observing strict hygiene protocols”.

Economy, business and first class customers can enjoy a selection of two, six and 11 wines respectively. Cocktails, port and champagne will be served in premium classes.

Emirates’ new welcome drink for premium passengers – Vitality Boost – blends apple, ginger and hibiscus, giving “customers a health kick on their journey”.

New health measures at Emirates include the distribution of free hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes.

Flyers will also have any COVID-19 related medical expenses covered by the airline, should they be diagnosed with coronavirus during their travels.

Now, how does that sound for a full-service airline?

No thanks. I’m not interested in what Emirates have to offer. What about the price of these ‘extras’ compared to any other airline?
