Day trips for singles

Alma would like to take a day trip or maybe even journey overnight somewhere.

Day trips for singles, travel, adventure, organisations, overnight, trip

Alma has no problem keeping herself busy but now and again, she would like to take a daytrip or maybe even journey overnight somewhere.

Q. Alma
I am a senior and I keep myself very busy online, craft, etc, but occasionally I feel I would like to take either a day trip or an overnight trip somewhere, and don't know how to find out about these things! Have you any suggestions? I am on my own, so it makes it a bit harder.

A. There are many organisations which can help you get out and about to enjoy some of the great trips Australia can offer but finding them is a minefield and does depend on where you live. We would suggest contacting some of the following organisations or Googling “seniors clubs” in your area, which should have details of what’s on offer.

- Adult Learning Australia
- Rotary
- ASCCA
- U3A
- Salvos

Do you have any single day trip suggestions?

Try Women Welcome Women World Wide. Google that. There's a branch in SE Qld.

Hi Alma. Do not think for a minute that being alone should limit your ability to go day tripping. It can be liberating to do things on your own. Find a local Information Centre and look at the brochures they have there. See what interests you, what is "do=able" in terms of time and financial constraints (according to your circumstances) and do a little trip planning before deciding on where you want to go. Then on the next day, try your wings and fly.

I was in a similar situation and I joined three interesting social groups on Meetups. There are groups on this site in all major Australian cities and there's bound to be one at least that interests you. It's a wonderful way of meeting new people and broadening your horizons - and it's NOT a dating site. I found it by Googling social clubs.
