Total Eclipse during the total eclipse

Saying that during her performance of her hit single, Total Eclipse of the Heart, eighties rock sensation Bonnie Tyler outshone a total solar eclipse 99 years in the making may literally not be a proper comparison.

Seeing that total eclipses don’t ‘shine’ and all …

The Welsh-born Tyler was onboard the Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas during its once-in-a-lifetime, seven-night Total Eclipse Cruise, which set sail on 20 August and has moved along the eclipse’s path of totality since.

“As if moving our ship to sail along the eclipse’s path of totality to give our guests 100 per cent visibility of this phenomenon wasn’t enough, we wanted to take it to another level – just above ‘out of this world’,” said President and Chief Executive of Royal Caribbean International Michael Bayley.

“We were thrilled to have seen the looks on our guests’ faces when she was brought on stage to sing Total Eclipse of the Heart. This is what we live for – to make unforgettable memories.”

Here’s a video of Bonnie Tyler performing her song.
