A great day out for train buffs

This week’s Publisher’s Pick is a tip in advance. On November 20 train buffs will be treated to a nostalgic day out during Vintage Train Day at Trainworks, Australia’s newest (and biggest) train attraction. Just an hour’s drive from Sydney at Thirlmere, Trainworks has recently undergone a $30 million upgrade and now boasts a museum, café, theatre, and outdoor activity areas as well as Australia’s largest collection of rolling stock. Vintage Train Day promises to be a cracker event with something for everyone including train enthusiasts, families, grandparents, and grandkids. You can enjoy a steam train trip and explore historic rail stock, including the Southern Aurora which used to offer the main way to journey from Sydney to Melbourne and vice-versa.
