Boutique hotels are usually known for being a romantic couples’ retreat or a fun and funky singles shack’. I recently had the privilege to relax in one of the most idyllic spots which can be enjoyed by singles and couples alike.
The Inn on the Lake is situated just a 35 minute drive from Whitehorse in the Yukon yet boasts the tranquil Marsh Lake as the outlook from the deck. Voted by National Geographic Traveller in 1995 as one of the top 150 places to stay, you may get a sense of the beauty and luxury this 15 room hotel has to offer.
Owned and managed on site by Carson, whose family are well known in the area for their Antique and interior design business, the Inn is impeccably styled yet just as comfortable as being at home. All you need to make your stay as energetic or relaxing as possible is at your disposal, with peddle boats, bikes and canoes available to enable you to explore the surrounding countryside. Or if relaxation is more your style, ask for the suite on the second floor and while away the hours in the spa bath, or get friendly with your fellow guests in the hot tub!
Dinner is a social affair, with all guests getting together around the dining table to enjoy a freshly cooked three course meal, using the freshest local ingredients. This is a great way to meet people from around the globe and even locals who enjoy a getaway in this stunning spot. Couples who would prefer to eat alone can have dinner served in the sun room, overlooking the lake.
Rooms start from $179 per night and are worth every cent, especially if you get to view the Aurora Borealis dancing above the evening lake.
