While Apollo Bay may be at its most appealing during the warmer summer months, there’s something refreshing about having the sea air blow the cobwebs away during spring. And you get to escape the tourists.
Going on holiday with family can be expensive, especially when there are kids concerned. Finding affordable accommodation, which can accommodate all family members and still provide comfortable living arrangements can be a challenge.
Apollo Bay in the spring is one of my favourite places. The landscape is just that little bit more rugged, the crowds have gone and being outdoors is invigorating.
It’s thanks to a friend’s recommendation that we found the perfect house to suit family weekends, a girls’ getaway or golfing with the boys.
Harbour House isn’t an inexpensive option if there are only two of you, although the separate loft apartment is cosy and luxurious. The main house has three bedrooms and can be rented separately from the loft apartment. Getting two families together is a great way to use the space and split the cost, and grandparents can retreat upstairs to the loft to take in the magnificent ocean views when it all gets too much!
This house is beautifully presented, yet comfortable enough to relax in, very important when travelling with family. But what makes it ideal when we visit with friends is the large grassed area, which the kids can run around and burn off all that excess energy, while we relax with a nice glass of red.
Prices vary depending on when you wish to stay and how much of the house you wish to rent. Travelling off-season is a great way to make this accommodation even more affordable so why not escape the city and the tourist and just enjoy.
