Having just come back from a 35-day cruise in the Pacific I was less than impressed with the changes Princess management has implemented recently. Last year we came back from Europe with Sea Princess from Dover in England back to Sydney. It was a wonderful trip so we booked the journey on the same ship through the South Seas. What a disappointment that was - a light beer that was $5.50 is now $8.75, same as all beers. The Happy Hour we used to have at Legends Sports Bar that allowed guests to buy one drink and get the second one for $1 has been discontinued and all the fun and get-togethers no longer happened. The ship on sea days was like an old age home on water with people playing cards, knitting, reading books and just plainly sprawled out asleep. Upon returning home we promptly cancelled our next trip through the Indian Ocean to Africa and back from Fremantle on Sun Princess. We have been told that the old ways are gone for good.
There are fortunately other cruise lines that are not as greedy to choose from. We are Elite on Princess and 4* Mariners on Holland-America Lines to show that we have been around and not just disgruntled first timers.
