The one calendar you need for 2018

Let me start by saying, if you’re lucky enough to be retired, this article is of no relevance to you whatsoever. While every day may not be a holiday, long gone are the days of trying to squeeze as much time out of your annual leave, public holidays and maybe even the odd sick day as possible. Good for you!

For the rest of us who aren’t so fortunate and are still slaves to the man, may I suggest you stop everything at once and give all your attention to this article.

This is the second tool of its type I’ve noticed in the past month and, as you’ll soon understand why, my interest was piqued from the get go. This is because some genius has worked out how to maximise your annual leave so you get 53 days holiday. Yes, you read that correctly. The best part? They’ve literally done all the math and hard work for you. All you need to do is pay attention for the next two minutes and then follow their lead.

The brains behind this calendar are the team at Contiki (thank them later). Taking the average number of annual leave days – 20 – along with public holidays they have formulated a plan of which days you should take off when to achieve 53 days of  bliss.

Simple enough for anyone to follow, the 2018 calendar shows public holidays in pink, key weekends in green and when you should take your annual leave in purple to hit the magic number 47 (you have been paying attention right).

The result? Two three-day breaks, one four-day mini trip, three holidays of nine days each   and one extended vacation of a whopping 16 days!

Sure beats being stuck at your desk responding to emails from Jenny from accounts if you ask us. Just be sure to submit your leave and get these dates before your colleagues do!
