Tigerair no more, now Scoot

Nine months ago, budget airlines Scoot and Tiger announced their intention to merge and this week they began operating under a single brand.

Tigerair’s last flight departed Singapore on 24 July, ending the life of one airline but beginning a new chapter for a ‘super’ budget airline.

“As we come to the end of Tigerair’s journey, we open up a brand new chapter for Scoot. Building on what Tigerair and the old Scoot had achieved since their respective inceptions, we are stronger than we have ever been before, and consequently in an even better position to offer our guests more choice, connectivity and value. The enhanced Scoot that we are introducing today is spunky and sassy, and promises to create more travel opportunities for our guests,” said Scoot CEO, Mr Lee Lik Hsin.

The revamped Scoot airline will fly to five new destinations by June 2018: Honolulu, Harbin in Northeast China, Kuching and Kuantan in Malaysia, and Palembang in Indonesia.

These five extra services will bring Scoot’s total destination count to 65 across 18 countries.

Scoot’s employees, also known as ‘Scootees’ also received spunky new uniforms, which reflect the fun and lively attitude expected of Scoot’s crew. Scoot has also dropped its ‘Get outta here!’ tagline in favour of the new ‘Escape the ordinary’ slogan.

“Scoot’s new tagline, Escape the Ordinary, is reflective of our growth as an airline brand,” said Mr Lee. “It is more relevant to the global market now that our network has grown as it is aspirational to our inner wanderlust, and inspires us to travel and explore the world.”

While Scoot always offers low prices on flights, it’s celebrating with some great value airfares. You can fly from Perth to Singapore for as little as $119, or from Melbourne to Singapore for $199.

We look forward to seeing the new Scoot in action!
