Airport freebies

If you find yourself stuck in an airport, it needn’t be such a bad thing, as there are airports that offer free activities for you to enjoy on your stopover. These four airports offer free stuff – enjoy.

Amsterdam Airport, Netherlands
Amsterdam airport opened the world’s first permanent airport library in 2010, offering a collection of 1200 books, translated into 29 languages.  The library also offers e-books and music by Dutch artists which can be downloaded to a laptop or mobile device for free.

Singapore Changi Airport
Enjoy the Nature Trail at Changi Airport. Stroll through the open-air rooftop Cactus Garden in Terminal 1, relax in the Enchanted, Sunflower and Orchid Gardens as well as the tranquil Koi Pond of Terminal 2, while the Butterfly Garden in Terminal 3 is home to over 1000 butterflies. You can enjoy the latest movie screenings on the Fox Movies Premium Channel at Terminal 2 or movies of different genres at Terminal 3. These screenings are available free-of-charge for your viewing pleasure. The entertainment hubs are open 24 hours daily.

If you have at least five hours in transit, you can join a free, two-hour guided tour of Singapore which runs daily at regular times.

San Francisco International Airport, United States
San Francisco International Airport offers a free wifi service in all terminals. Visit the San Francisco Airport Museum dedicated to aviation and the airport’s history located in the International Terminal. The exhibits, research services, and educational programs are offered free of charge.

Alternatively, you can enjoy free use of the Yoga Room in Terminal 2 – a space devoted to relaxation, self-reflection and practicing yoga.

San Diego International Airport, USA
See behind the scenes of San Diego International Airport by taking a free tour of the airport and airfield with the Airport Authority. The two-hour tours include up-close looks at the runway, endangered species areas and public art, and are offered at 1pm on Thursdays and 10am on Fridays, every other week.
