The one gadget Drew couldn’t travel without

Ever since losing an SD card filled with precious memories on a trip to Dubai, my number one must-have travel gadget has been my 'My Passport Wireless Pro'.

Certainly, priced at the expensive end and only for the regular traveller, this all-in-one gadget acts as a power bank to charge my devices as well as a wireless storage device to back up all the photos taken on my smartphone. If I decide to bring my SLR (single lens reflect) camera along, there is an SD card slot to insert and backup all my memories, with the ability to further back up my photos online.

Key features include:

  • Wireless storage for cameras and phones
  • One-touch SD card copy
  • All-day battery life (up to 10 hours)
  • USB port to import from card readers
  • Built-in power bank to charge devices
  • Works with PC and Mac computers
  • My Cloud mobile app to access content

The My Passport Wireless Pro is available from all major electrical retailers in Australia, including JB HI-FI and the 2TB model retails for around $299.

Considered this option but for travel use an iPad mini to load photos from camera that way can see them on a larger screen than camera, do minor editing, send highlights home from our journey when have wifi and still have back up. Once home can either offload direct from iPad or from original cards on to computer. Also use many smaller camera cards so don’t lose too many photos if lose one or one is faulty and keep the others safe in a small SD card pouch. Always keep cards and iPad in different places in case luggage goes astray. iPad may cost a bit more but has many other uses especially when travelling and needing to plan or make bookings like access to maps, internet etc.just need to make sure have the space for your photos on it.

Not to mention how about being in her moment and remembering visually and in your mind the experience. Sometimes some people too busy clicking away forget the experience of just being in the moment.

If you do it properly you can do both in fact that’s the main reason you should take the photo....and I’m talking about when you are away for weeks or months at a time not just a few days.... need the photos sometimes to jog the memories
