    dang it! being short I already get the midi skirt effect buying skirts that sit just above the knee for most people - if the skirts are now going to be longer they will almost be maxis on me! and a lot of the time you lose some of the style if you take them up, there is often some hemline feature that makes taking things up not an option.

    Making a skirt yourself solves the problems! A skirt is really easy to make and you have something unique that fits.

    Some of these skirts actually show the knees, so how come they can be called midi? The term comes from mid-calf length, very popular many moons ago, before maxi (full length) became popular in chilly UK.

    Yes you are correct Trish...the mid when I lived in London in the early 70's was as you said mid calf length...I hate that length as it shows the thickest part of your leg.
