Band Aid 30 for Ebola

Thirty years have past since Bob Geldof brought together stars from the music industry to record Do They Know It’s Christmas?, to raise money for starving children in Ethiopia. The original, featuring Midge Ure and Bono, raised £8 million and was re-recorded twice, in 1989 and 2004. This 2014 version has had the lyrics reworked to better fit the Ebola situation in West Africa, for which the money is being raised. You can read the reworked lyrics at BBC.com.

Bono is joined by Rita Ora, One Direction and Cold Play’s Chris Martin to name a few and the single is now available to download.

Why not listen to the rough-cut recording of the song?

What do you think of the new version? Do you think it will be as successful as the initial fundraising campaign?
