If you have been adversely affected by the Queensland floods which began in November 2010 and have continued into this month, you may be able to claim the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP).
Payments of $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child will be made if you meet the criteria which include but are not limited to:
·ta person’s principal place of residence has been destroyed, sustained major damage or is unavailable for access for a period of 24 hours or more
·ta person’s principal place of residence was without water, electricity, gas, sewerage or other essential service for at least 48 hours due to the flooding
·ta person was seriously injured or is the immediate family member of an Australian killed as a direct result of the flooding
You may also be entitled to such payments if you are the principal carer of a dependent child who has experienced any of the above.

To access the AGDRP you should contact Centrelink on 180 22 66. Centrelink staff will be able to assist you if you have lost identifying documents and can arrange for counselling or information on services available.
