Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy

The Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy (DIRS) has been activated to assist employees, small business persons and farmers who have suffered a loss due to the recent Queensland flooding which commenced 29 November 2010. The DISR can be claimed through Centrelink.

The DISR consists of ex-gratia payments as detailed below:

Single – $469.70 per fortnight

Single with dependent child – $508.20 per fortnight

Partnered – $4249each) per fortnight

The DISR will be paid to those who have suffered a loss of income as a direct result of the disaster and can show proof of this as well as meeting certain criteria. Claims must within 28 days of the loss of income and be made by 28 February 2011.
